Is there hope for haiti?
Imagine having to deal with a earthquake that is unpreventable. Is there hope for haiti?  have you ever had to deal with a disease that could not be cured because you are in a poor country?  Ever though that people out in the world have to deal with diseases that cannot be cured. Haiti has been suffering for a while now not having healthcare and giving medicine to cure a disease such as Cholera but even with medicine haitians die. After the earthquake in 2010 ”Approximately 350,000 people died, 500,000 were injured, almost half of them children, an estimated two million people were left homeless in Port-au-Prince alone” haiti the water in haiti was never cleaned.  Cholera is a disease in the small intestine that causes throw up and diarrhea.  One of the main reasons why the Haitians get this sickness is when they drink water that is dirty and contaminated by feces and the Cholera bacteria.  The Cholera disease is one of the main problems that cause Haitian deaths.   In the British Medical Journal it states “The island has 80,000 inhabitants. Life expectancy is 54 years, the fertility rate is 6 to 4 children per woman,75 % of the population is illiterate,60% is unemployed and the average income per capita is a mere US$250.  Haiti is one of the five poorest countries in the world.Hope for Haiti?”British Medical Journal.  Doctor Paul Farmer is a man that goes around the world curing people from most of the diseases, in the book Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracey Kiddler Doctor Paul tries to help all the people he can in Haiti and cure people of Cholera while most of haitian population is infected with the disease after the earthquake in 2010.  One quote in the book that shows that the peasants in haiti are struggling.  A man with gastritis in the late middle age.  In Haiti,Farmer told me, that could mean thirty years old, since 25% of Haitians die before they reach forty.(Kiddler25.)  People can help the haitians from getting sick by donating to charities that go straight to Haiti and or have other people send supplies to Haiti so the sick can use them.  Most of the haitians also need time to bring all the rubble from the floor so they can rebuild their houses.  I believe if most of us help with this situation we can get Haiti back on its feet and ready to support themselves.

  1. It's very short but I really like your title, it goes good with your article. Great question. It really made me think more about Haiti.

  2. I can see where you put logos, and how you said, "I believe if most of us help with this situation we can get Haiti back on its feet and ready to support themselves." I like it because it makes me wonder what plans you have in order to help Haiti.
